Statistics
You never think you're going to be the one.
The one who gets caught, the one who gets singled out, the one who becomes a statistic. We are all conditioned to think that we're something else; that we would never be the one. The rules don't apply to us, and we would never be stupid enough to get caught or to be in a situation like that. I mean, after all, there are people out there who are much more conspicuous than we are, much more reckless than we are, much more deserving. But the reality is that we are psychologically hardwired to think that we are unique. We can't help it, it's just how we, as humans, operate.
But you are not unique. Neither am I.
None of us are.
None of us are better than falling prey to certain incidents and becoming statistics. At some point in all of our lives, certain events will teach us that we are no better than anyone else. That the unthinkable can happen to you, and that you are not safe from it.

We are never safe.
